Desert Palm Demolition to Begin August 31
Desert Palm Demolition to Begin August 31
On August 10, 2026, the New Jersey Supreme Court affirmed the Appellate Division’s ruling in Borough of Seaside Park v. Shree Jyoti, LLC (A-2-25) (089599), finding no support in either the Local Lands and Buildings Law or the Eminent Domain Act for requiring a municipality to state the specific purpose for a taking in the ordinance authorizing condemnation.
With that decision, the Borough’s two-and-a-half-year wait to move forward with the demolition of the Desert Palm is finally over.
The demolition contractor will begin staging equipment at the site this week, with demolition scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31.
The Borough recognizes that this has been a long and frustrating process and sincerely thanks the residents of Seaside Park for their patience and understanding throughout this ordeal. We are pleased that the legal process has now concluded and that this long-awaited work can finally move forward.
